I have had it in mind to install a 2nd OS in my computer. For now, I am running WIN XP Home Edition build 2600 and I want to install Mandrake Linux as a 2nd operating System. Anyone have any luck at all getting any version of Linux to utilize the high speed mode of their USB 2.0 card? I have no problems with getting any of my USB stuff to work in Knoppix 3.4 or Debian or Mandrake 10.0. But all version are only using the USB in the slow mode (v1.1). Running Bios Setup On A Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop
My aunt gave me her old laptop, and I want to reinstall Windows on it. For sarters, the DVD-ROM drive is not first in the boot order. So I need to open the BIOS Setup program to change it. What do you think the best cpu is? According to what i have tried and heard AMD is way more powerful than pentium. I heard that AMD gives you its full power for maximum efficiency while pentium gives you about 80%-89% full power. I recently updated my sound card driver CMI3738/C3DX PCI (C-media) and the update did not work out too well. Hi There, 1) I have the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard accompanied with Creative Gigaworks S750 speakers (btw. they ROCK!!!). All drivers for audigy are up to date. hello, i really need help, my cd drive is working absolutely fine in ms-dos, but when i try to use it in windows it does all sorts of things, sometimes it shows the cd as audio when it is not, other times it tells me that the cd drive is not functioning, and also sometimes it detects the cd, then when i look at the files on it they are a scrambled and have filenames like '??~???__~_???_~~'. i have tried reinstalling windows and updating drivers.. PLEASE HELP ME I AM GOING INSANE!!

I got a Dell D600 Centrino and I want to sell it. I would like to get a new laptop but now I see AMD has a kick *arse* Turion CPU and I would like to know how does it compare with the Intel Centrino. I like my current Centrino because it runs cooler compared to the P4 and does the job done. How does the AMD compare with the Intel Centrino for the low power heat?
